Planning Approval for New Net Zero Carbon Hotel
Vincent & Brown have secured planning permission for a new highly sustainable hotel in the centre of York at planning committee.
The proposed 82-bed hotel will develop an underused, brownfield piece of land to the rear of Mill House on North St. The sustainability ambitions for the project were welcomed by the committee, including targeting BREEAM Excellent and net zero carbon, supporting the council’s ambition for the city to be carbon neutral by 2030.
The modern design of the building references the sites heritage through both its form and proposed materials, utilising a contextual brickwork façade and a metal saw-tooth roof that allows for photovoltaics on its south facing pitches.
We are delighted the scheme has received approval on this difficult site and we look forward to working with Helmsley Group further to deliver the approved scheme.
