Planning Approval for The Roman Quarter
After 5 years, 3 committees and numerous design iterations The Roman Quarter development was approved at planning committee last night.
The proposed mixed-use development will see the removal of Northern House, a detractor within the conservation area, and the creation of 153 apartments, a 88 room hotel, office space and a world class roman visitor attraction called EBORACUM.
The contemporary design, which was highly praised by councilors, responds to the surrounding context, creating a positive relationship with existing buildings and counteracts the negative characteristics of the area.
Following a refusal in 2021, Vincent & Brown redesigned the scheme creating two fluid formed buildings connected with a statement triple height glazed atrium which forms an impressive entrance to the visitor attraction.
Well done to everyone’s hard work from Vincent & Brown and the team of consultants including Montagu Evans, Re-form, O’Neil’s Associates, Tate Consulting & Dudley’s
We are delighted the scheme has received approval and look forward to working with the team to deliver the approved scheme.
