Rowntree Park Lodge Achieves Planning Approval for New Community Space
We are pleased to announce a significant milestone as our design to transform the upper floors of Rowntree Park Lodge into a vibrant community space was approved by the City of York Council last week.
Working closely with The Friends of Rowntree Park, this exciting development follows the charity's comprehensive public consultation and detailed planning submission aimed at revitalising the former park keeper's lodge, which has been vacant since 2017. The newly approved project will not only retain the existing café, but also establish a permanent administrative base for the charity and offer a range of community activities within the renovated space.
The approved plans include minimal interventions to preserve the character of the historic building, ensuring it remains a cherished feature of the park. Lift access and best-practice retrofitting will create a fully accessible venue.
We are delighted to move forward with this project as this transformation will breathe new life into the lodge, providing a much-needed hub for community activities and safeguarding the building's future.
We would like to express our gratitude to all supporters of this project and look forward to the positive impact this development will have for The Friends of Rowntree Park, local residents and visitors from York and beyond.
