York Sports Club, Charity Golf Day
The Oaks is a stunning championship parkland golf course in North Yorkshire with picture-postcard fairways that bend around the rolling landscape and lakes. Opened in 1996, The Oaks has played host to a succession of county and national golf tournaments and this month, a record 34 teams attended the annual charity golf day.
Keen golfer and resident architect at Vincent & Brown, Rob Miller, led a team of four to play in the tournament, raising much needed funds for the York Sports Club Development Fund (SDF). The charity brings together some of York’s most influential businesses, to give youngsters an opportunity to excel in sport, whatever their background and game of choice. SDF works with teams, groups and clubs to facilitate amateur sport, be it through assistance with membership fees, coaching costs or equipment purchasing.
Rob's team included clients Steve Hull of Stonegrave Properties, David Easterby of Planusual Projects and trusted contractor Carl Potter of Hillgate Construction. In previous years our team has made into the top 3 but the competition was fierce this year yet they still managed to reach a respectable mid-table position. Well done team V&B!
Club Chairman, Ralph Magee, said: “We did really well. With our biggest number of entries yet we were worried we might have congestion on the course. However, we were pleasantly surprised to find it ran like clockwork. I’d like to thank everyone involved.”York Sports Club on Shipton Road in York, is home to 700 rugby members, with both junior and senior teams for men and women, alongside a cavaliers team for veterans. Vincent & Brown were delighted to support such an inspiring community venue through this event.
